There are so many good restaurants I could probably fill several pages with recommendations. So, I will start with a few that my wife and I visit and give you our general description along with our favorite dishes. Most will be in the Pocono area within fifteen to twenty minutes of Stroudsburg which is our starting point. |
Dale's (570-629-6722) Open 7 days a week. Great soups, sandwiches (wraps, panini, croissants), and salads. And the best Espresso, Latte, Cappuccino, and Breve you have ever had! On Rt. 611 about 1 mile north of the Bartonsville exit of Rt. 33. Map coordinate Z-22
Petrizzos (570-588-6414) located on Rt. 209 about six miles north of Marshall's Creek. The house specialty is lasagna. And, do they know how to make it! Also, assorted good pastas and great pizza. Bar. Just north of Fernwood Resort. Map coordinate S-7
Sweet Creams Cafe (570-421-7929) located on Main St. at 5th Street in Stroudsburg just across from the KFC. An old fashioned ice cream parlor with super homemade ice cream, pies, cakes, and soups. Great sandwiches and salads. Open for lunch and dinner everyday. I usually have soup or a sandwich or just a stuffed baked potato to save room for their Turtle Sundae! (I can't finish the potato so I take half of it home). Map coordinate N-11
Stroudsmoor (570-421-6431) Country inn atmosphere offering a fabulous buffet. Everything is good! And if you get there early you can browse the adjoining antique shops. Special Sunday buffet. Also, rooms available. I pig out on the bread pudding! Reservation recommended. Bar. Located on Stroudsmoor Road just off Rt. 191 about 1/2 mile out of Stroudsburg. Map coordinate N-11.
Black Bear (570-629-9598) A bit out of the way on Rt. 715 at Misertown. But they serve generous drinks and have good steaks, chops, pasta, and salads. Warm and cozy atmosphere. Relax and enjoy. All is cooked to order. Bar. Call ahead. Map coordinate L-7
Big A (570-223-8314) If you like charbroiled steaks and chops. This is the place! Salad and baked potato. Bar. Arrive early weekends as they have a good following. Nice salad bar. Open every day for lunch and dinner. Bar. Map coordinate P-08
Smuggler's Cove (570-629-2277) Located on Rt. 611 in Tannersville. Nice atmosphere. Good steaks, chops, and seafood. You won't be hungry when you leave. Bar. Try it, you will like it. Map coordinate K-09
China Buffet (570-476-7658) Great oriental buffet. Also takeout menu. Self service ice cream machine (look for it) for your dessert. A huge selection and always fresh. Located in the Eagles Glen Shopping Center off Business Rt. 209 1/4 mile north of Eagle Valley Corners. Map Coordinate N-09
